The DMV is always an effing chore. Skip the appointment, just bring what you need, and any extra paperwork that you might have or need, and bring it on and expect a wait.

I never write reviews but I have to say, Julie at window 3 is absolutely amazing! Even though the office was packed she was so kind and explained everything I needed to do to get my business handled. Three trips to AAA and no results but 5 minutes with Julie I now know what I need. What a treasure!

Not all DMV offices are created the same. This location has great customer service. The employees are friendly and competent. I've had my Real ID driver's license and vehicle registrations reissued when I relocated to Placerville. I wouldn't want to go to any other DMV office other this one located in Placerville.

I dreaded having to get the Real ID and having to stand in line so long at the DMV to do it. But, I was in and out of the Placerville office in about 30 minutes. Ashley helped me and was really great. ~ I had to renew my drivers license too so got it all taken care of in one visit. Thank You Ashley!!!

I lost my license last night, and needed to go in to get a new one. I got there around 1230, assuming that I would be spending the rest of my day waiting. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself finished and out in less than an hour. Thanks for being an efficient DMV and for your helpful staff!

For being a DMV, this place seems to run fairly efficiently. I've been here several times, never had an appointment, and can't say I've ever been stuck here for more than half an hour or so. There's typically a bit of a backup at the entry door for the "start here" counter, but things move well enough after that.

Nice staff. Very long wait if no appointment. We could not make an appointment due to a special restriction. The Start Here staff member seemed quick and efficient, but gave us the wrong info. So we waited nearly two hours so my don could take a written test only to be told he did not need to.
