I had a great experience at the Hayward DMV. After facing issues at the Fremont DMV, the staff member here quickly understood the problem and updated my previous driving test result correctly in the system. She was very polite, professional, and extremely helpful. She resolved the issue efficiently and completed my license renewal without any hassle. Truly appreciate her knowledge and excellent customer service.
Please use the app before you go. The get in line function will save you time and ease your frustration.
Made an appointment online to update vehicle registration details. This place is amazing. I was in and out in 30 minutes. All of the staff I interacted with were patient and courteous. There's tons of parking. This was the best DMV experience I've ever had.
It was confusing going there my first time and was told to go to the wrong place to take care of what I was there for. Considering how crowded it was, it didn't take that long before I was called to the window.
They have lots of workers available mostly all of them friendly n they work fast the one lady who helped me was very knowledgeable and polite cute n clean .I wish more people at businesses were like her a slim Brown skin woman with braids.

The process is fast, and it's beneficial if you have an appointment. This DMV is not very busy when compared to other DMVs. Try coming in early in the morning and after noontime for a lesser wait time. Again ,most times, it's unpredictable, but this was my experience
Not so bad considering it's a DMV. Lots of free parking, relatively safe area, large roomy building (although it seems old and the ventilation system does not feel strong), and the lines actually move fairly quickly.
Went in expecting the worse. I did not have an appointment to renew my license. Turned out to be organized. Clerks guiding you where to go. Checking lines to make sure everyone was in the right place.
Got here at 1:45pm today and stood in the "no appointment line". There was 4 people ahead of me. Within 5 - 7 mins I got my number and waited about 15 mins to be seen. Done by 2:30pm. Fastest service ever today. I came in to get my REAL ID and the agents were all NICE!
Ok I never thought I would say this but the hayward DMV rocks! I filled out my application online and took the first appointment at 8:50. They took my picture and thumbprint to renew my DL and for a real ID. I was literally in and out in under 15 minutes! The trick is to get that first morning appointment and make sure you have all your paperwork.
This is the only DMV I would go in the East Bay . I usually go to the one in Oakland and it was a nightmare . The service here is great. There is always someone to help you out at the entrance , then you get a number and wait inside . I would recommend to go at noon or early morning for short wait time ( usually around 30 minutes)
The lady in the front door is so nice, ask me what I need, give me the # , wait like 15 min only (despite of the long line outside and I'm the 2nd to the last ) then got my sticker for my car less than 30 min. DMV of Hayward stuff, thank so much you! Specially the lady in #16 and the lady give me the sticker in # 11. Very fast, friendly service and accommodating. Very professional
Appointments make the wait here so much easier, of course you still have to wait but not as long. Just make sure you screen shot your appointment details to show them in the line outside (and make sure you are waiting in the right line)
Not bad today without an appt. Just make sure you have all your paperwork done b4 hand. The covid screen which makes it a nice transition when you go inside the office. It's not crowded when you go in and it's comfortable. I was fairly shocked and pleased.
