I don't know whats up with all those grumpy reviews. I have been at the SB & Goleta DMV so many times and never had a bad experience. Everyone is very friendly and with an appointment you are in and out in no time. Of course there are more fun things to do, but would you give your dentist a bad review only because you don't like going there.

The welcome lady who has a bob hairstyle should be the employee of the year every year. And for the day I went in, there's not many people, so the waiting was not horrible. As long as you got all the documents they need, things should be smooth.

I was in and out in 15 mins to renew my license and upgrade to a Real ID. The people helping me were friendly and helpful. Definitely not the DMV nightmares we are used to; our SB DMV is a rare gem. I recommend going online and utilizing the "get in line" function prior to going in person.

Helpful staff and no waiting as I went before 9 am

The lady I spoke with at the information counter was probably the nicest woman I've ever encountered at a DMV. Santa Barbara DMV is by far the best DMV in California. This is the only DMV I will ever go to from now on. I highly recommend this location it is fast , efficient, and very professional. There's never a long wait here . 2 thumbs way up

Got here half an hour before my appointment, they called me to the window before I could even sit down. The woman I spoke with was very helpful and friendly! I was in an out within 10 minutes. Best DMV experience of my life!!

For DMV it wasn't bad at all. Of course there was a line, and people waiting to get in the line but that's why you can make appointments. Which I did and it was fast and easy. The phone system is a little hard to navigate through however when I did reach a representative they were awesome! Truly, I'm not joking. The operator had to do some research to answer my question and she did just that.

You must have an appointment to get in the door. If you do and you are as ready with all your documents in hand you can get all your transactions done in one trip. Staff was friendly and helpful. Not like the nightmare d.m.v. days of old.

The saddest part of dealing with DMV is the fact that the outcome of your transaction lies on the person before you. Some of the staff are nice, friendly and efficient. Some staff are not that happy, professional yet still efficient to sent you home with an unfinished transaction. The DMV is the best example of a toss up.

This DMV on Castillo is Wonderful . All employees are so helpful and courteous . My first time going to this DMV and it's a WOW experience. I'll travel miles to come back to this DMV . And an employee name Akilah. Please my deepest apology if I misspelled your name, she is awesome. Customer Service at this DMV location , pleasant . Thank you to all of you . You are all Wonderful . Great Experience of my life . Thank you .

Wow - the three DMV employees I dealt with this morning were uniformly helpful, even cheerful and they seemed to extend that to others I saw. Well organized and on time, with an appointment I was there about 25 minutes or less. Kudos to the staff.

i went in to take my driving test (im not from santa barbara tho im from the IE area near LA) but the people were actually nice + the environment felt calm. i was nervous n felt like i was about to poop my pants but overall the service was 10/10 would drive 2 hrs just to say hi maybe give them a cake or sum heehee

I've been to several DMVs in Southern California and this is one of the better ones. The staff doesn't seem miserable. They do their job and don't seem to take our their anger on their clients. This enough makes it one of the better DMVs in Southern California! I recommend making an appointment because it makes the process faster.

The 3 staff members who helped me - were most excellent!!! My name was called for next window before I could even walk up to it!! Bothe times!!! I haven't been in the building for a long time - but past memories was very crowded and hot. Today A/C was perfect. Workers seemed pleasant and liking their jobs. Thank you thank you so much for the great service.
